Testing Requirements

Electrician - Wyoming

Department: Expanded Product Line (EPL)
Location: State of Wyoming, WY

LOCATION

Based out of Gillette, WY

GENERAL PURPOSE

To diagnose problems and facilitate electrical repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Effectively trouble shoots electrical circuits of varying voltage ranges - 120, 480, etc. Install and trouble shoot all types of lighting circuits and ballasts. Terminate and phase AC motors, DC motors, and generators. Perform monthly inspections of equipment. Hook up equipment for outage projects such as welders, generators, light plants, pumps, etc. Communicate with, share knowledge with and train other technicians as needed.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assist in special projects as needed. Answer telephone calls, complete service reports and maintain records. Participate and occasionally lead safety meetings. Provide daily progress updates to supervisor and dispatchers. Occasionally perform work for mechanical, machining, welding, or general laborer areas as requested.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY 

Demonstrated ability to work safely and influences others to do the same. Have the ability to work alone on tasks assigned. Must be proficient in print reading and interpretation, should be able to go to work with prints and comprehend information with little assistance. Have the ability to safely use rigging and lifting equipment. Completes work with very few quality defects. Must be knowledgeable in running and bending all types of conduit (EMT, RIGID, PVC, etc.), in motor control circuits. Have the ability to maintain rotating DC motors and generators. Demonstrates ability to layout and terminate breaker panels per local code requirements. Understand and apply transformer theory for terminating equipment. Will be using test equipment including multi-meters, amp clamps, meggers, etc.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING 

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical schooling or on the job maintenance planning training preferred.

EXPERIENCE 

Four to Five year experience in the trade. Possess a current MSHA electrical certification and renew yearly. Current Journeyman certification desirable.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MSHA certification.
  • Must maintain a valid Wyoming driverís license.
  • Be willing to be exposed to dirt, grease, dust, noise and other elements within the work environment.
  • Ability to climb equipment steps and ladders.
  • 50lb weight lifting restriction.
  • Stand 8 to 12 hours a day.
  • Devote drive time as necessary to meet on site requirements.
  • Travel is required with extended overnight stays.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
