Service Writer

Location: Rock Springs, WY

                                           WYOMING MACHINERY COMPANY

                                         JOB DESCRIPTION: SERVICE WRITER

 LOCATION :     Rock Springs, WY


Facilitates coordination of maintenance repairs and supports the daily operations of the Service Department.


Opens work orders and segments via the DBS system; manages Field Service and Shop work orders; reviews work orders and verifies completion of service reports prior to handing off to the dispatcher for approval; works with the service operations manager, field supervisor, field dispatcher, and gas engine dispatcher to close revenue work orders; monitors and reports on the work in process for all areas of the Rock Springs Service Department; interacts with customers to obtain purchase orders and provide information. 


Answers telephone and transfers calls; distributes mail; files and maintains records; assists with time card entry; creates memos, letters, and spreadsheets as needed; may be involved in special projects such as capital budget layout or operating statement coding; other duties as assigned.



Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English; proficient in use of a desktop computer, including Microsoft Office products; some knowledge of database applications; ability to work with customers in a professional manner and develop/maintain relationships.


High school diploma or equivalent required.


Prior experience performing duties of a service writer in a similar field desired; prior experience performing administrative functions desired.


Personal computer, including dealer AS400 program and related software; e-mail; files and paperwork; general office equipment including a calculator, multi-line phone system, and muti-function fax/copy/scanner/printer.


    Office environment; quiet to moderate noise level

    Frequent sitting for long periods using a computer

    Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and writing and typing

    Overtime and varying schedules may be required
