Testing Requirements

Wyoming Machinery Company is a drug and alcohol free employer. All employees are subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug and alcohol testing.  In addition, some positions may require physical ability testing.

Shop Mechanic

Department: Expanded Product Line (EPL)
Location: Gillette, WY


To trouble shoot, assess and facilitate projects and repairs from a mechanical perspective.



Planning, organizing and facilitating jobs as for repair including print reading and interpretation. Audit equipment for potential repairs. Trouble shoot jobs and equipment needed to complete jobs. Utilize knowledge in gearing, bearings, seals, bushings, and hydraulics to complete repairs. Create and facilitate projects to completion including any related paperwork or service reports. Communicate plans and projects effectively to other employees, training them as needed. Maintain the highest standards in regard to quality of workmanship. Safely use rigging and lifting equipment.




Assist in special projects as needed. Answer telephone calls, complete service reports and maintain records. Participate and occasionally lead safety meetings. Provide daily progress updates to supervisor and dispatchers.




Knowledgeable in various areas, including gearing, bearings, seals, bushings, and hydraulics. Must be proficient in installation and maintenance of pneumatic/ air systems and components as well as lubrication systems and components. Needs to demonstrate an ability to perform light machining, utilizing drills, taps, etc. Must be proficient in welding and cutting of all types. Possess the appropriate tools per the Mechanic Tool list. Must be capable of aligning gear cases and motors as assigned. Be Proficient in auditing equipment for potential repair, understand and utilize tools for set up and layout work.



Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical schooling or on the job maintenance planning training would be preferred.



5 or more years experience in the trade.



Be willing to be exposed to dirt, grease, dust, noise and other elements within the work environment.

Ability to climb equipment steps and ladders.

50 lb weight lifting restriction.

Stand 8 to 12 hours a day.

Devote drive time as necessary to meet on site requirements.
