Testing Requirements

Wyoming Machinery Company is a drug and alcohol free employer. All employees are subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug and alcohol testing.  In addition, some positions may require physical ability testing.

Field Machinist

Department: Expanded Product Line (EPL)
Location: Farmington, NM


To facilitate machining projects and repairs.


Planning, organizing and facilitating jobs as assigned to the machinist shop including print reading and interpretation. Audit equipment for potential repairs. Trouble shoot jobs and equipment needed to complete jobs. Utilize knowledge of trigonometry, geometry and metric conversion to complete calculations encountered on different jobs. Create and facilitate projects to completion including any related paperwork or service reports. Communicate plans and projects effectively to other employees, training them if necessary. Safely use rigging and lifting equipment.


Assist in special projects as needed. Answer telephone calls, complete service reports and maintain records. Participate and occasionally lead safety meetings. Provide daily progress updates to supervisor and dispatchers.


Knowledgeable in various areas, including gearing, bearings, seals, bushings, and hydraulics. Must be able to effectively use stationary and portable boring equipment and machine tools as well as multiple other types of tooling to meet specific job needs. Understand and utilize tools for set up and layout work. Must be capable of aligning gear cases and motors as assigned. Possess appropriate tools per the Machinist Tool List. Be proficient in welding and cutting of all types. Possess a proficient understanding of metallurgy and its application to machining. Be capable of heat treating parts as required. Be proficient in testing the hardness of materials. Demonstrate the ability to use N.D.T (Magnetic particle and die penetrant). Be trained in leveling and use of Brunson equipment, and balancing components. Have a general understanding of mechanical assemblies. For safe and effective performance of the job, must be fluent in English.


Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical schooling or on the job maintenance planning training would be preferred.


5 years or more experience in the trade.

Experience with mining equipment preferred.


Extensive travel may be required.

Be willing to be exposed to dirt, grease, dust, noise and other elements within the work environment.

Ability to climb equipment steps and ladders.
50 lb weight lifting restriction.
Stand 8 to 12 hours a day.
Devote drive time as necessary to meet on site requirements.
May require frequent travel.
